First-time Philadelphia visitors, long-time Philly area residents, history buffs, homeschoolers, military veterans, and anyone interested in the American Revolution, Declaration of Independence, Constitution, or founding of our nation. Children are welcome!
Outdoor
We will see historic sites and buildings which were frequented by the founders of our nation. These are outdoor walking tours. We will see between 1 and 2 dozen sites, depending on the tour. We will cover a lot of ground!
Indoor
Historic buildings in Philadelphia include some which have interiors open to the public and some which do not. Yes, you can return on your own schedule to enjoy available indoor tours, in some cases by National Park Service personnel. If you haven’t already, allow me to urge you to attend the indoor tours of (a) Independence Hall, (b) Carpenter’s Hall, (c) the Museum of the American Revolution, (d) the Liberty Bell Center, and (e) the Franklin Museum. Please see their websites for hours of operation (link to each of these websites).
Public restrooms are few in this historic area. Please use the restrooms just inside the doors at our starting and ending location, at the Market Street entrance to Independence Visitor Center at 6th and Market Streets. There are additional public restrooms only at 5th & Chestnut (near Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell). (If the Franklin Museum is open, restrooms could be available.)

This is a walking tour through the historic—read “old”—part of Philadelphia. These are narrow streets, with irregular cobblestone paving in many places. By scheduling one of these tours, you agree to the following rules:
All persons must listen for and follow verbal directions.
The entire group must stay together in crossing streets with vehicle traffic.
All persons must walk on the sidewalk two feet from the edge of the curb, to avoid overhanging parts of moving vehicles, including trucks and buses.
All persons must watch their step on irregular cobblestones.
By scheduling one of these tours, you agree to your own responsibility to follow the safety rules and exercise common sense. The tour guide cannot be responsible for failure to do so.
